Thanks for choosing Mandrake Linux PPC. The following is a short explanation of the various options for booting the install CD. The default syntax with no suffix uses the 2.4.21-pre4-10mdkBOOT kernel. The default if you just hit enter is "install-gui". It's also possible to recreate the 8.2 behavior of Xpmac with video options by doing something like: install-gui gui-old video=atyfb128 (rage128) You can also force fbdev, for both the installer and installed X, by passing "force-fbdev": install-gui force-fbdev To bypass automatic loading from CD to choose ftp, etc., pass "automatic=" (no quotes). install-gui: uses XFree86 in native or fbdev mode install-gui-benh: uses XFree86 in native or fbdev mode with an alternate BenH based kernel install-text: text based install install-gui-old: old Xpmac gui install-net: allows you to use a minimal boot CD, pulling the rest of the install from a network server install-net-text: text mode network install rescue: boots the rescue image rescue-net: boots the rescue image from a network server
